THE METHOD

Caulking

Ripping

It's all about removing the old caulking. Using pliers, hammers, wood knives as well as oscillating tools, . Depending on the type of product to be removed, various methods are used to avoid leaving traces of the old sealant.

3

Application

It's now that the craftsmanship is needed. The application is the most difficult part of the operation. Dexterity, regularity and precision are essential to give an impeccable result.

2

Clean Up

Next, cleaning is required using compressed air and solvents to ensure that no remaining residue will compromise the adhesion of the new  sealant.

4

Smooth

The work ends with a final masterful movement, smoothing. It flattens and creates a flawless adhesion to the surfaces to which the caulk is applied. The spatula therefore puts an end to the work with a professional finish.

Questions and answers

Why do we need to replace the sealant?

Some types of sealant dries and cracks faster than others. Combined with the natural movement of a house's foundation, cracks can appear that can affect the insulation of your building.

Mother Nature

The climatic conditions in Quebec are among thehardest on the international scale. The fluctuating of the temperatures from one extreme to the other create a contraction of the materials which weakens year after year. The resulting cracks can therefore let in water, the building's enemy number one.

Energy

A new and properly applied sealant will prevent any energy loss and reduce your electricity bills.

Insects and Animals

Another of its roles is to close all access points to insects, rodents and birds. These can sometimes do significant damage, resulting in high costs. They can attack your wood frame as well as electrical cables.
